The School Day

Mornings at ISOCS

Students are welcomed to school between 08.15 and 08.30 and students are guided to open activities like touch typing and reading until school begins.
The school day starts with a short movement session of dance, brain gym, yoga or Tai Chi to stimulate learning. Daily announcements are made at this time.
ISOCS does its utmost to preserve morning lessons such that the class teachers can work with their class on elements of the curriculum which require critical thinking and differentiation for individual student learning needs.
Snack time and outdoor play give students an opportunity to recharge their energies.

Lunchtime

At midday on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the whole school takes a 10 minute walk into the woods to enjoy a nutritious and delicious home made meal together at “Teuflibach” Robinson Playground. The meal is catered especially for students dietary preferences  and costs  CHF 11- per day.
A few children prefer to bring a packed lunch but every one shares a family style eating experience. There after the students delight in playing in the specially prepared woodland or play houses.

On Wednesday afternoons school is dismissed at midday

ISOCS believes the opportunity to join in local clubs and activities is crucial to helping students integrate, learn the language, and “feel at home” in Switzerland.
Teachers meet to conduct in depth planning and assessment on Wednesday afternoons. After school care and language lessons are offered at school as extra curricular options.

Afternoons at ISOCS

Afternoons at ISOCS place particular emphasis on creative endeavours, language learning and applications, gym, swimming , outdoor sport and adventure and local excursions. It is a lively and exciting time to explore possibilities, extend experience and apply our learning into action.
School ends at 15.30 but afterschool care and activities can be arranged to meet the needs and interests of our families.
